In the ending of i am legend how would the monsters die as the blood could be used as an immunity?

Neville's blood was the one used as an immunization (not the monsters' blood). It is because Neville conducted an experiment before (by injecting himself with some chemicals) which made him immune. At the end of the movie, Neville sacrificed his life by killing the monsters with the dynamite even killing his own self as well.
