Please help!!! *10 points for best answer* What happens to the gradient as you go down the course of a river?

As you travel down the river profile, from the upper course to the middle course and finally the lower course, the gradient will become less steep and will decrease.The upper course of a river is usually found in high, mountainous areas and the lower course is normally on flat and fertile land :)
