Remove shower door rails from ceramic tub?

I want to remove the rails left from a shower door that used to be on my ceramic tub enclosure; ceramic tiles are on the walls. I did this once before in the other bath and the adhesive had left an ugly yellow stain on the edge of the tub. How can I avoid this again?
