Repotting a bonsai tree ?

I have a bonsai tree and there are some roots cming out of the drainage hole in the bottom but other than that there doesnt seem to be to much root crowding, do you think it need to be repotted or , should i wait to next Spring. the man at the store said 1-2 years from now but im not sure he understood what ii said ?
