How do I open this game trial I downloaded? (On a mac)?

I downloaded a game from Wildgames- Virtual Villagers 4. When it was done downloading I tried to open the file it opens up on TextEdit. It's just a whole bunch of strange codes and stuff. How do I actually play it? Am I supposed to open it up on a different file?
