Thoughts on weed and the economy?

i was watching the news and the american debt keeps growing. personally i think that if the government wanted an easy way to cut costs they should start with the prisons, in my opinion the prisons in america are way too soft. we give the prisoners a free life where they don't have to work. our prisons are a joke. and we keep putting people in jail over weed. every 35 seconds someone is arrested for marijuana. its impossible to overdose on marijuana and a cigarette is even worse than a blunt of weed because of the additives and addiction. In the end the government is losing money by having it illegal, and would be better off having it legalized even if they didnt profit they wouldnt lose money. These are just my thoughts, correct me if im wrong but i think i make a good argument, so now i ask what do you think.
